American Studio Movement Tri-Leg Chair

A tri-leg chair in solid oak, finished with a handwoven papercord seat. The undulating armrests are supported by Danish-style dowel legs; the one at rear gently arced and then bifurcated at the seat to form the open ‘Y’ backrest. The finish has been lightly conditioned and is ever-so-slightly raw for a tactile quality that speaks to its handmade pedigree and the seat has been professionally rewoven exactly as the original. There’s a branded cipher above what appears to be the date ‘12/16/87’ to the underside and although the artist’s identity is anonymous for the time being, his/her inspiration couldn’t be more evident – – the design would seem a perfect amalgam of Hans Wegner’s iconic JH-501 and CH-24 chairs.

27.5 h x 23 w x 17 d, 17.5 sh

Condition: good, age – appropriate wear
